Slottless Linear Motors
In slottless motors the coil windings are arranged in the relatively larger air gap between the magnet rail (secondary part) and a flat iron plate. The coil windings are attached to the flat iron base plate and both together are resi-casted to the primary part.
Slottless motors deliver a smooth motion due to the lack of cogging forces inside the magnet unit.
End cogging is suppressed by a special design of the iron base. Owing to the coreless windings and the larger air gap this type of motor has the following application features:
- short electrical time constant (1ms)
- high dynamics in controlled mode
- high speed maximum
- flat design
- relatively small attraction forces
- force output approx. 2.5 to 3 N/cm (air gap area)
